Ways to Prevent School Shootings

If you didn’t read the first part of the post, please do so. The second part here will deal with a few proposed solutions that I have to curbing school shooting and mass murders. Part three will conclude this piece by outline another popular and visible culprit and how to quell it.

School Shootings: Addressing a Mental Heath Problem Disguised as Gun Problem

This is a golden quote I’d like to borrow from Joe Rogan. Mental health is an often ignored issue in our country. A lot of these outbursts wouldn’t happen if we didn’t allow these guys to fall through the cracks. America being the individualistic society that it is unsurprisingly has a lot of people falling through the cracks. I wouldn’t be surprise to see that such tragedies are more rare in more collectivist and community oriented nations.

We need to destigmatize mental health and seeking mental health in our country. If deranged individuals had a place they could go to to seek help and consul, we could help prevent a lot of the outward consequences that result.

So many folks complain about Obamacare and their premiums going up. The expansion of healthcare may put an dent in the school shootings we’re seeing, and encourage troubled individuals to seek help.

Installing More Male Role Models in the Schools

According to USA Today “only 2% of pre-k and kindergarden teachers are male. And only about 18% of teachers in the other secondary schools are males. This gets marganally better in the secondary schools when the percentage increases to 42%.”

The point is, most males don’t get teachers that look like them until much later in their academic careers. Young males, especially those that don’t have solid male influences and figures at home are left in a rough spot on how to develop assertive and multifaceted foundations to thrive in school and life.

His mental instability is inherently obvious by his eyes. A better mental health system throughout his formative years would have caught this ahead of time. None of that excuses the monstrosity and his cowardice.

Adding more male teachers in the schools will provide a second layer of support for young boys and girls, and can perhaps rebuild and rehabilitate the young boys on the margins who may become depressed, mentally ill, and marginalized. Instead, the frogs like Lanza were allowed to boil in the pot until it was too late, and innocent lives were taken as a consequence to America’s blind spot on mental illness.

An Unconventional, but Possible Solution: Legalize Prostitution

Please read this Disclaimer. I do not support or condone the mistreatment, trafficking and abuse of non-consenting women. Men aren’t entitled to sex.

Let me make this clear right now before I go on. No one is obligated to, or owed anything in this life. I have zero tolerance for misogyny and discrimination. Anyone that does condone misogyny can leave my site now. People are free and autonomous individuals who can associate and disassociate with anybody at any moment that they choose. These suspects were highly damaged goods, and I don’t blame anyone for not seeking interest in them.

Marginalized males are often mentally ill, isolated and lonely. People in that condition are not particularly in a position to bring friends and people of the opposite sex or the same sex into their lives. James Holmes was reported to have used adult sites to illicit sexual companionship. George Sodoni’s gym shooting was motivated by his inability attract women.

The availability of legal prostitutes may have possibly quelled the lack of desire they felt. It’s far from an end all be all, but I do think it may have helped a few of these guys.

The Final Pieces of the Puzzle

A few of these things can do a lot to curb unhinged individuals. The reason we know about these school shootings is well, because of the media. The reason many shooters get inspiration to commit these crimes is largely because of… you guessed it, the media.

Part three will be all about the media.
